Plucking Little Ham from the Ohio. A crane's gotta do what a crane gotta do.

David W. Evanczyk, CEO and founder of the company, began his boat building career in the 1960’s with Yates Marine Construction of Wheeling, West Virginia. In 1972, he moved to the Jeffersonville, Indiana area and founded Marine Builders, Inc. near Clarksville, Indiana on the Ohio River at ORM 603.6. Twelve years later MBI moved to its present location at ORM 595.7 near Utica, Indiana – almost next door to the Port of Indiana – Jeffersonville.

For more than forty years the company has continued to thrive and has increased in size as a full service shipyard, piloted now by three generations of the family. With a 26-acre site and 14,000 square feet of fabrication shop, Marine Builders, Inc. has both new construction and repair capabilities that meet all A.B.S. and US Coast Guard requirements.

It is the intention of the company to continue to provide quality, efficient and economical vessels through the WORKHORSE® brand and its new construction division, as well as comprehensive service to the waterways industry through its repair division – now and for years to come.
